President’s Letter – July 2017

“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.” -Maria Montessori

Hi friends,

We have officially hit triple digits this month on the thermometer! Even though the heat can be unbearable at times, I never let that hold me back or keep me cooped up inside. It’s the summer events that create worthwhile memories and make the heat bearable. I have already been to Roaring Springs with the boys and trust me, there will be plenty more trips to the water park in the cards for my family. I also saw Korn with Drew and it was a rockin’ show! I’ve kept track of everything I’ve done so far this year and one thing’s for certain: summer 2017 is kicking ass!

I’m an Aunt again! You read that right, I am so happy for my sister. I have a beautiful nephew named Julian! I feel so much love every time someone new is brought into this world. And…I LOVE being an Aunt!

Already, Drew and I finished the most recent season of Orange is the New Black and we are now watching Wentworth (basically the British Version of OITNB). I’m not sure why television shows surrounding women’s prisons are suddenly so popular, but I’m digging it and I’m addicted.

I am still trying to forget that both of my kids recently broke a window in our house. Isn’t parenting fun? It certainly has its moments. Kaden is “on a roll” this summer! At one point, he wanted me to relax and poured me a glass of red wine with the awesome lunch he had made for me. After that, he did the dishes, watered the plants in the garden, took out the trash and other chores that needed to be done. He even read 600 minutes and earned a free Roaring Springs Reader Pass. Kaden also turned 9½ and celebrated with a half birthday party! Meanwhile, Emerson has been busy with Boy Scouts. Drew volunteered to take his group on a camping trip and he got to learn even more outdoor skills. I love seeing my kids involved in these awesome organizations. Boy Scouts of America is such a great opportunity for kids to learn new things, while having fun at the same time. I’m so proud of both of my kids!

In the month of June, we celebrated 100 years of Rotary in Idaho! I also just finished serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Nampa for a year! Sometimes, I don’t even know where the time goes. It feels like yesterday that I was still learning the ropes of being a club President and even after a year, I am still learning. Have I mentioned how much I love being involved in Rotary? Serving my community is so rewarding to me and I strive to make a difference in any way I can.

You may have heard me mention that Peppershock has been working with the Canyon County Fair this year! We have been anxiously anticipating the grand opening, the yummy fair food and fun concerts that it brings. Next time you’re in your local Albertsons, make sure to pick up a coloring contest sheet (designed by Peppershock) for your kids. You could have a chance to win a family four-pack of wristbands with concerts included.

I presented at the Social Media Marketing Summit in Idaho Falls. It was an event filled with marketing lovers like me and I hope I was able to inspire some people at the summit. I always feel successful when I’m in my element and one of them is teaching people about the things I’m passionate about. I spent some time traveling in the car and stopped along the way at Shoshone Falls. If you haven’t been to Shoshone Falls, go check it out!

In August, I will be hosting a webinar titled “5 Essential Marketing Videos Your Company Needs.” By 2019, about 80% of all web traffic will be delivered in some form of video.
