Southern Utah University reached out to the Peppershock creative team in 2016, calling for our expertise in the production of a new and exciting promotional video that would showcase the university and it’s beautiful campus located in Cedar City, Utah in an effort to attract new, potential students. To make the video stand out amongst the sea of university campus tour videos found online, we developed a hybrid narrative style to tell the story, as well as used the latest in technology to showcase the campus and its lifestyle.
It was important to SUU that their new campus video mirror the feel of their campus. To aid in reaching this goal, all footage was shot in 4K resolution using our Sony FS5 and DJI Phantom drone. Cinema style tracking shots were achieved with a DJI Ronin.
We always knew we wanted to rely heavily on cinematic visuals to help tell the campus story. However, while brainstorming on the narrative direction of the project, we decided that using real students would aid in recreating an authentic campus experience on camera.
Interview with Matt Hamlin
Southern Utah University has a proud tradition of alumni success and wanted to focus on showcasing the various paths an SUU degree can bring. With that in mind the Peppershock creative team went to St. George, Utah to interview and film Matt Hamlin, a Southern Utah University alum and President of Tonaquint Networks.
We wanted to create a cinematic look for the story we were telling. To aid in reaching this goal, all footage was shot in 4K resolution using our Sony FS5. Cinema style tracking shots were achieved with a DJI Ronin and a slider dolly.
By letting Matt tell his story in his own words and focusing visually on his day to day operations at Tonaquint Networks, we were able to successfully showcase how an education at Southern Utah University can start your life and launch your career.
